SAAS / Cloud

In the classic (not cloud) model, the company maintains: applications, run-times, databases, server software, virtualization, server hardware, storage, networks.

JLR Distribution propose des logiciels de points de vente en mode SAAS

Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) is the first cloud model, where:

  • The company maintains: applications, runtimes, databases, server software;
  • The Cloud provider maintains: virtualization, server hardware, storage, networks.

IaaaS is the right model for companies that want to use their own cloud without having to support infrastructure investments.

The Platform as a service (PaaS) is the second cloud model, where:

  • the company only maintains applications;
  • the Cloud provider maintains: runtimes, SOA integration, databases, server software, virtualization, server hardware, storage, networks.

PaaS is the model for companies that want to control the deployment of their applications or that want to develop their own applications.

Software as a service (SaaS) is the ultimate cloud model, where the cloud provider maintains: applications, runtimes, SOA integration, databases, server software, virtualization, server hardware, storage, networks. The company can access all its applications and services through a web browser and a workstation.

Cloud computing can also be seen as an economic model for the consumption of applications and services: they are consumed and paid for on demand (by user, for example) and no longer acquired through the purchase of licenses or services.

JLR has chosen to offer its customers the opportunity to free themselves from hardware and system constraints. Retail Pro, XL Soft ou My report software solutions are available on Cloud architectures.

JLR propose des logiciels en mode software as a service

One of our customers, a luxury brand with around 50 points of sale around the world, has chosen a centralised technological architecture. This choice of centralization, whose economic balance sheet is not far from the distributed architecture, has the major advantage of simplifying any update of software versions, especially in points of sale. The hosting is carried out on suitable servers currently located on the customer's premises. It is planned to transfer these to a secure cloud site. A franchised store chain has asked JLR to host and make available the central data (catalogue) that is transmitted to their members.
